Israel considering large Gaza incursion soon after Bush visit
The Jerusalem Post- 4/17/08
There is an attack in the works for Israel being planned to take place this coming summer. Israel has been taking devestating blows from Palestine lately, and Israel will have many advantages this summer over Palestine. President Bush is planning on visiting Israel to speak with many other world leaders to celebrate Israel's 60th aniversary. By the time planned for the attack, Most of the officials will have left. Also, most attacks are planned around the time because of vacationers and many other distractions that will keep Israel busy trying to sort out. If Israel does not step up to the plate, then Palestine will take the chance. If this attack takes place on the Gaza Strip as planned, then Israel will have complete control over it, and attacks will greatly decline. Egypt has finally agreed to deploy a couple hundred troops and Israel will have an IDF action, which involves tanks and air attacks, and of course, ground troops. If Israel pulls through there may finally be, settles peace in the Gaza Strip.
A) This relates to the AP theme: "Interaction among two societies", because Israel is trying to relinquish Palestines power and control the Gaza Strip.
B) Since god claimed Israel the "holy land" in the bible, Palestine has wanted control of it feeling that Israel is still part of Palestine ever since 60 years ago, when Israel obtained freedom and became its own country.
C) This written by an Israeli journalist who is obviously in favor of the attack, because it will protect him and his family.
D) There is clearly bias as when he claims it is the perfect time to attack, and chooses wording that makes it seem like Israel is stronger than ever.
E) It would be nice to hear from an Israeli military leader, who has some insight on the details of the attack, but I understand it must remain under wraps until this summer.
F) I couldn't be happier for Israel, because this means that they may be safe for many months to come. This is also exactly what I predicted would happen, because it was bound to happen. I have some distant family in Israel and I believe that they live somewhere near the Gaza Strip, and this could protect them from IDF attacks and rockets.
