With ratings low and time short, Bush faces resistance from Europe over NATO expansion goals

Part A:
I. Title: With ratings low and time short, Bush faces resistance from Europe over NATO expansion goals

II. Summary

Bush flew into Ukraine to speak other NATO members (North Atlantic Treaty Orginization) that he would like to expand the allies to the three Balkan countries. The final decision will be made in Romania, and seems like it will go in Bush's favor. Other countries have decisions that could change Bush's mind, therefore they are waiting until Bush is out of office and they will consult the new president. Everything Bush is looking for is being turned down by Vladimir Putin, Russian President. To avoid more tension with Russia, NATO is waiting to speak with Russia until Vladimir Putin steps down from office in May. Greece could possibly be the deciding vote that can hurt or help America. As of now, they are strict with their decision of no.

III. Reactions
A) This relates to the AP Theme Impact of interaction among major societies, because NATO involves most of the world's nations, leading to unity and exchanges of ideas.
B) NATO has been established since the end of WWII, and has kept a lot of wars from happening. Nations are constantly entering and sometimes leaving, making the world a more peaceful place, politically wise of course. (mulishas are still able to attack because they are non-political orginizations.)
C) This article was written by a male German writer, and contributed by a female writer who is non German. He appears to know what he is talking and has his facts straight due to in depth analysis of the countries policies and decisions.
D) There is obvious bias, even if not stated, just by the history of the issue. Germany has nothing impacting their realtionship with Russia, but Germany, like most countries, despise Vladimir Putin, and would wish for him out of office.
E) It would be nice to hear from a leader of any of the Balkan countries. They could give insight on how they feel about the U.S. wanting them in the Oginization.
F) I feel that Vladimir Putin could be a large contributor, becuse of how many people are allies with Russia, although hating Putin. Also, Greece may have the power in their hands, because of the alliance with the Balkan countries and opposition to the U.S. over allies.

I think that this article was very interesting. Greece can be the country that can help America gain more allies. This would be a huge deal for the United States and it would benefit us.

I think that think article was great because you can kind of see which countries are working with others. I agree with MAx that Russia does have a lot of aallies right now but I think a European country needs to stand up and do what they actually think is the right decision.
