Summary:
Yesterday, Sunday, March 30, 2008, two British soldiers were killed. They were killed in Afghanistan. The Ministry of Defence has made it final that those two men are dead. They were both part of 40 Commando, Royal Marines. On the of their death, they were just doing their normal patrol and all of a sudden there was a bomb which was thought to be a roadside bomb. Their deaths were in the Helmand province. Now they those two men are dead, it brings the United Kingdoms' deaths to 91 only in Afghanistan. The spokesman for Helmand task force is now investigating if the deaths were really caused by roadside bombs. They bombs were not able to be found out exactly, last night. Many say it was caused by mine or an improvised explosive device which could of been set off by remotely or a pressure plate. The first soldier was pronounced dead by The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) at Camp Bastion and the second soldier died shortly afterwards.
Reactions:
A) This article relates to the AP world history theme "Impact of technology, economics, and demography on people and the environment." I think it relates to that them because this article without the technology of bombs and life-saving devices (which apparently didnt work) these deaths wouldn't of happened.
B) In Afganastan there were 91 British dealths to preceed it. They were probably of roadside bomb just like these two past dealths.
C) This article does not specifically identify the writer, but since the newspaper is BBC News, which is a British newspaper, the speaker is an British person who is an outsider becuase he was not involved in the deaths in anyway.
D) There is hardly any bias at all in this articlee becuase it is just reporting how these two British got killed by roadside bombs. This article would be bias if it had information on how the Indians killed them adn set up bombs but that didnt really happen.
E) It would be helpful to hear from the people who set up the roadside bombs and if they had any intentions of killing British soldiers to be specific.
F) This article upsets me because these two men were obviously innoccent and it's just a terrible thing for people to be dying from roadside bombs. They had no reason to die. At least if they had a reason to die such as robbery for example it would be more understanding.

unfortunately this has been happening since the start of the war, and i dont think it will stop any time soon. there is really no way of tracking an i.e.d and the governmant has no control over where they are placed and no clue where they are. as technology betters, soldiers will be healed more efficiently and maybe i.e.d's (roadside bombs) can be tracked and destroyed without soldiers having to look for them on foot.
I agree with Brittney's reaction because it's a terrible loss. These two men were only doing their jobs and its terrible that an ignorant person would just randomly drop a bomb there and kill them. There is no reason for these men to lose their lives, and this article just shows how many people get killed for no reason during times of war.
