Title: “Iran: World powers will not prevent us from pursuing our nuclear ambitions”
Source: Daily Mail
Date of Article: February 29th, 2008

Summary:
This article is basically about the Iranian president who has intentions on mastering nuclear technology and is experiencing problems with the UN. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claims that he is using nuclear technology in a peaceful form. The president said that mastering technology to make electricity so the Islamic Republic can export more of its oil and gas reserves is the only use that he plans on having with it. Some UN members believe this is a cover up for mass nuclear technological warfare and some believe in the President of Iran’s argument. "Let the world know that the Iranian nation will build up Iran despite all the difficulties," he said. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says throughout the article that no World Power, such as the U.S. will be able to stop the Iranian nations pursuit. He also claims that all world superpowers are underneath Iran’s feet obviously meaning they are better then anyone. His statements show controversy though in that they are so ethnocentric war like.
Reactions:
A). State building, expansion and conflict is the theme of this article. The reason is because the Iranian president plans to expand his countries technology, build a better economy and power, and experiences conflict among other nations/superpowers.
B). Many nations probably believe that Iran isn’t very trustworthy and that they are using this nuclear technology to attack the world instead of using it for good. Others probably believe that the Iranian president is telling the truth and not covering anything up. It depends on who you are and your views on Iran. Even if the Iranian president was in fact making these weapons and trying to cover them up, he probably believes since other nations have this technology, why cant he have his own.
C). I believe this article is written by an outsider, more American then anything else. The author is not stated so it is hard to tell what background they have. I think the author may be against Iranian nuclear ambitions because of the writing style they use.
D). I do believe the author shows bias against the Iranian president. Several examples are when she uses quotes from the Iranian president, she shows more of the ethnocentric ones and how Iran thinks they are so much better then us. "The Iranian nation will have the final victory in the nuclear arena. No power will be able to obstruct the movement of the Iranian nation," he told a military gathering in the capital, Tehran. This is just one of many examples listed in the article. The author also talks more about how Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is using these nuclear weapons probably for warfare instead of peace.
E). Another person which could be heard from for a different opinion is maybe an Iranian citizen. Their out take would show whether or not they believe the president is using the nuclear technology for peace or warfare. They if anyone are in a better situation to make a comment on their belief because of them living in the country, knowing what is going on.
F). My reaction to this article is unsure. I am not to familiar with the subject, but if were to be one of the Diplomats voting for or against the issue, I would say no to this nuclear technology for a few reasons. One is that it is better to be safe then sorry because that would be a huge mistake letting nuclear weapons being built without knowledge of it. My other reason is because why else would these other super power nations be so concerned with Iran building these weapons. They must have information unknown to the public which would give them good evidence.

I totally agree with Tom on this article; that I would vote against Iran creating nuclear power. I think that what the Iranian's are using it for could be changed very quickly. The US should keep track of everything that's going on with this subject and keep everything under control. If we leave them alone for too long things can become dangerous and Iran can attack maybe not us, but weaker countries that can't defend themselves. I do think that this is a great article.
