ll. Summary: America is now a place where whites and blacks live peacefully but there are still some people who think other wise. Pastor Jeremiah Wright teaches his church that whites are out to put African Americans down. Jeremiah Wright is Senator Obama’s pastor but he said that he was unaware that his Pastor taught like that even though he got marries there, goes to church there and had the Pastor in his home.

A) This article relates to the AP world theme of social structure and gender roles because the Pastor thinks that the American whites are raciest to the African Americans.
B) African Americans were discriminated in America. They came over in ships from Africa and were sold into slavery. Whites would make them work on the farm or in the house. Whites thought African Americans were possessions not people. Then African Americans started to fight back and the Civil War started. It went from 1861 to 1865. Finally in 1865 President Lincoln freed all slaves and saved the union. Even though slaves were free they still were discriminated against. Whites groups, known has the KKK, would beat up blacks for know reason. They fought back with peace from the help of Martin Luther King and Malcom X. They had boycotts and peaceful rallies. Finally they got their equality but some people in the USA still are raciest and some still fear being discriminated against.
C) This article was written by Armstrong Williams, who is a syndicated columnist and a television/radio talk show host in the US.
D) You may want to read this article with caution because Armstrong is also Christian and he may be saying things to make his church look better then Senator Obama’s church.
E) It would have helped to hear from the Pastor because he could have explained what he really meant to say or why he said what he said.
F) I think that it’s horrible what this pastor is teaching. He should be focusing on religion and god not politics. America is a place where all people should be free and free of discrimination. The Pastor should stop his anti-white teachings and start teaching forgiveness.
