II. Summary
All throughout parts of Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America, people have been shutting off their lights at 8:00pm for Earth Hour. Earth Hour, a campaign which started last year, was started to reduce carbon dioxide emissions put into the atmosphere by electricity. Over twenty four cities and three hundred towns all across the planet participated in this global "switching-off." Temples, churches, monuments and government buildings from Bangkok, Thailand to Dublin, Ireland purposely blacked-out. Many people from different places on the Earth banded together to help the issue of global warming, although some countries did not participate.

III. Reactions
-This article relates to the AP World History Theme impact of technology, economics, and demogaphy on people and the environment. It relates to this theme because the article is about people across the globe working together to try and fight a growing problem that everyone will face. Global warming is the problem, and that problem is a direct result of techonologies such as electricity that contribute to the issue.
-The background of the issue is debatable. Some people don't believe in global warming and some people do. However, the fact that electricity releases gasses that are changing the climate of the earth is a fact.
-The person writing the article is a man, probably from a country in either europe or asia.
-The author of the article seems to have a positive view on the campaign because he does not write anything bad about the subject and only briefly points out the countries that did not participate.
-The point of view of the countries that did not participate in the Earth Hour campaign is missing from the article. It would provide a better understanding of the issue if there would have been a quote from someone who did no participate to show how it affects people differently and the different view on global warming that there are.
-I liked this article a lot because it shows how people from all over the world, even in feuding countries can come together for an even bigger issue. Global Warming, although some argue it's existence, is something that affects everyone on the planet and I think it's good that people everywhere are trying to make a difference.
