Rabbi stabbed in East Jerusalem
BBC News
March 18, 2008

II. This article is about a Jewish Rabbi that was stabbed by a Palestinian man in East Jerusalem. This Rabbi was a member of a Jewish religious group focused on buying back land for Jews in East Jerusalem, where Judaism originated. The group was protesting a shooting of eight Jewish students by a Palestinian man. The Rabbi's security guard tried runniong after the stabber, but he could not catch him and he escaped. As of now, police could not identify the stabber.

III. A) This article relates to the theme "Development and transformation of social strucures." It relates to this theme particularly because this violence and stabbing came from a conflict between two religous groups, Jewish people and Palestinians.
B)This article has much historical background. The Jews and Palestinians have been fighting for centuries. Judaism started in Jerusalem and was their capital city for many many years. These two groups had a war and in 1967 and the Palestinians took control of the city. They have been constantly burring heads since then.
C)This article was written by a Jewish man. He could probably be considered an insider on the situation because the Jewish community is mentioned in this article.
D)The fact that this article was written by a Jewish man by a Jewish newspaper may affect the point of view on this situation a little bit. The writer may favor the Rabbi's side in the conflict because they share the same religous beliefs. He also may feel the Rabbi was right because he may want the city back to the Jews as well.
E)It would be helpful to hear from a Jewish political leader to see if he feels the city belongs to the Jewish community.
F)My reaction to this article is that i am shocked that many many things have to lead to violence. I think maybe the two peoples could maybe share the city and share the rule so both communities could be happy.

people are always fighting amongst each other and there is always violence involved. the israeli/palestinian war has been going on for quite a long time now, and innocent people are dying because of it. not many other countries are taking this seriously and no one is getting involved. i feel that police will not do much for these murder victims, because they don't want to get involved.

I agree with your reaction, that they should just share the city and rule. But, in reality, they are not going to agree to share because they both want more power than the other. It is sad that innocent people are dying because of this.
