This Article is explaining how president Bush is going around to Arab leaders and trying to get them to become ally’s of the U.S. and reunite with the U.S. so they can stay protected from Iran. Bush said that Iran threatens the safety of nations everywhere and they must confront this danger before it is too late. Bush told Arab leaders in private to cut off Iran’s access to banks and financing. Bush believes that access to these things will only make the nations economy stronger and make their nuclear efforts stronger. It notified Congress today that it wants $123 million in "smart bombs" and other weapons to be sold to Saudi Arabia, where Bush is now located after stops at Kuwait, Bahrain, and Dubai. Most of the reactions by the Arabian states aren’t what bush was looking for because they think it is unfair to be judging Iran and some said that the U.S. should “confront the country it has been meddling with for more then half a century”. Iran says that its nuclear efforts is for producing energy and research only and that it will not stop the work that they are doing.

I think that this article relates to the theme development and interactions of cultures because it talks about the technology of one country and how another country wants to stop that technology. Arab states and the U.S. are interacting and deciding what they want to do about this situation. The Arab states seem like they don’t want to get involved in fear of starting a conflict with Iran. This article is written by someone who lives in America. His name is Thomas Omestad. The authors point of view doesn’t really take a part in the article so there isn’t really a form of bias. I think that point of view of a political leader in Iran should be included in this article to show how they are feeling about the situation and how they reacted to the news of U.S. talking to Arab states. I think that President Bush shouldn’t really be trying to gain allies. This is because if Iran thinks allies are being built up against them then they might start using their weapons to “defend” themselves because they might feel they are the ones being attacked. The U.S. shouldn’t be trying to cut off things that the Arabs give to Iran because that has nothing to do with them and that could make the Arab states mad at us. Then we could have Arab states and Iran form an alliance.
