2. Summary
This article is about the upcoming controversial Olympics that are to be held in China for 2008. After the very scary threats and attacks on the torch runners in places like London, Paris, and San Fransisco, China is trying to improve the security. Japan however refuses this support since they have failed three times in the past at protecting the runners. Japan wants to provide their own security to ensure the safety of their runners. China still makes an effort and has 70 armed police watching the runners 24 hours a day, but Japan's answer is still no. Other countries have joined in saying they would like their own men to protect the runners while in their continent or country like Australia. Although this feud continues, Japan's Olympic committee rules ou the possibility of shortening or making changes to the runners' route.

3. Reactions
A) The AP World History theme that would apply to this situation is Impact of interaction among and within major societies because it is about Japan voicing their concerns over China's Human Rights Laws and wanting to provide their own security.
B)There has never in all the years of the Olympics have such and outpour of rage on a country holding the Olympics like it has on China for 2008. In these past couple of weeks however, attacks have been made on the runners by people in the cities of London, Paris, and San Fransisco because they feel China is inadequate to host the Olympics due to their lack lester Human Rights Laws.
C)The point of view of the article is of A Japanese man named Yoko Kubata and was edited by Jerry Norton.
D)You can tell that the article is written by a Japanese person because they almost seem to be making China sound as the bad guy in the situation and says how their Human Rights Laws are not up to par. Also, the article has many quotes from the Japanese Olympic Committtee, but does not have Chinese authority making any statements which can create a very one sided story.
E) The point of view that is missing from the article is that of a Chinese person on the Olympic Committee to hear their side in this situation because I only hear the opinions of the Japanese in this article. It would help me because I would see the whole picture and not only hear the complaints being made on China, but also hear China defending itself and its security.
F) My opinion on this situation is that they should have both countries providing security for the runners because you can't just completely cut off China's protection because they are hosting the Olympics and it's their responsibility to protect them.
