Summary: Iran said that if Israel attacked the Islamic republic. Gen. Muhammad Reza Ashtiani, a military leader from Iran, said that Israel was very vulnerable. The Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's defended Israel against Iran by saying "these hateful and extreme statements from the Iranian leadership are unfortunately routine. The sad reality is that these statements expose the mind set and political agenda of the leadership in Teheran. Unfortunately these hateful words are backed up by very dangerous actions." People are saying that we countries need to work on getting along and that we should make sure Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said China wants this problem to be resolved in a peaceful dialogue. Iran still insist that they are using then nuclear weapons peaceful and not against anyone
A) This article relates to the AP world theme “Development and interaction of cultures”. It relates to this because this problem is occuring because of a religious issue. It also relates to this theme because the nuclear weapons are new technology developing and this is also causing the problem between the two countries.
B) These two countries have been fighting for many years. Iran and Israel both believe that they have the rights to the religious city Jerusalem. They have been fighting over this for so long and they still have not come to a compromise.
C) The author of this article is Herb Keinon and the associated press. This article was written by a male author and the associated press. This person seems like an insider to the situation because they know quotes and they seem like they have a good understanding of the situation.
D) The author of this article may be favoring Israel. This is evident because all of the examples they used of outside sources were against Iran. They did not include any information on outer countries point of views that were for Iran.
E) To gain a full understanding of the article, I would like to hear from a resident in Jerusalem. I would like to hear from them because it would help to see who they think it belongs to, which country.
F) I think that this fight has been going on for too long. Iran threatening Israel was uncalled for. To countries should be able to work out their problems in a peaceful way inside of threatening one another.
