II.
This article was discussing the recent war plans the United States created. NATO, the National Atlantic Treaty Organization, sided with the United States, when asking permission to place missiles in Europe. George Bush asked Ukraine and Georgia to enter, but it was rejected. Croatia and Albania were also invited to join the NATO, however Macedonia was no longer invited. Greece vetoed the invitation because Athens insisted that the country must have a different name from a northern Greek province to achieve stability. France and Germany also said that Ukraine and Georgia was unstable to even be a part of the NATO, let along vote pro for this situation. Obviously, other countries in the NATO, are against this act as well.
III.
a) This article definitely relates to the AP World theme, state-building, expansion, and conflict. This is because the U.S., France, Germany, and many more countries joined the NATO in order to resolve world-wide issues more efficiently. However, the recent proposition that the United States proposed, led to chaos.
b) NATO is an organization that was created in 1949 by the north Atlantic Treaty signing. The purpose was to solve world affairs. Today, the NATO consists of 19 countries.
c) This article was written by two French males.
d) Because this article was written from two French males, this view may need to be analyzed more carefully. These French citizens may have a strong fear in the United States, simply because they have been known for the strongest military and because they were the founders of the NATO. They may be fuming because the two deciding votes were from “unstable” countries.
e) A view that could have been useful in order to better analyze the situation is a leader of Ukraine or Georgia’s view. They may have hatred toward the NATO, from their rejection, allowing the reader to see all views to the situation.
f) I was actually shocked to think that the United States would be putting missiles down at all. However, if I were a leader in France, Russia, or Italy, I would be annoyed as well. This is because if multiple strong European nations feel that other countries aren’t stable, then their vote shouldn’t be included.
