Blog post, at a McDonalds

I. Int'l community at Myanmar's doors as victims suffer, http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1210668661292&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull May 18, 2008
II. After a devastating cyclone in Myanmar, there are still thousands of people and mostly children whose lives are being threatened because of the lack of aid in their isolationist country. The ruling generals of the small country have not been dispatching help to its citizens, now the United Nations and other international aid foundations are pitching in trying to prevent any more casualties in the country. UN leaders are trying to convince Myanmar officials that without the support of other countries thousands of people will continue to die of starvation, mainly children. Aid groups are making an effort to dispatch communication equipments to the citizens but the government is not allowing it, the distribution of food is even a problem in the country that needs the help.
III. A- This article relates to the AP theme of interaction of cultures in society. This article talks about an international issue that is trying to be solved on a global scale.
B- Myanmar has always been a third-world country; the country is located in mainland south-east Asia. Myanmar, also known as Burma, has a strong isolationist policy that is upheld by the government. It has never been an internationally active country, hence the reason why it is not welcoming the aid being offered by many countries including the US.
C- This article is being written by the Associated Press, they most
Likely are not connected to the issue directly.
D- The author has written this article without any use of bias, they
Express their own personal feelings about the government in the article but it has not changed the way the article has been written.
E- A point of view that is missing form the article is the view of a Myanmar citizen, I would like to hear their opinion on the way the country is run and how they are handling the situation.
F- Even though this is a horrible disaster I think that the global attention that the issue is getting may help spark change in the country, if other countries such as the US are really getting involved maybe they can help get Myanmar back on its feet not only by helping it deal with the crisis but with its government and economy overall.

Mrs. Raftery, sorry if this is late, I am at my house in upstate NY at a McDonalds where they have Wi-Fi that is about 20 miles away from our house and is the only place to get internet. Thanks, Rusty.
