I. Un: Gaza is dumping Sewage into the Sea
Jerusalem Post, 5-6-08

II. Gaza has been dumping 60 million liters of untreated sewage into the Mediterranean Sea hurting the environment and the people in the area. Many of the fish are being poisoned which is bad because many people along the coasts eat the fish and other seafood. Reporters are starting to blame Israel’s blockade to the strip for the untreated waste. It can’t be treated because of the unsteady electrically supply in the Gaze Strip. So, Israel had to clean the water of the untreated sewage.

III.
A. This article goes with the Ap World Theme “Impact of technology, economics, and demography on people and the environment" because there is more technology and factories that produce wastes, there has been more waste and the people don’t know where to place it. Then they put it in oceans, seas and rivers that hurt the environment and end up hurting themselves.
B. The article states that Gaza has been putting sewage into the sea for years. Since January 24th they have put in 60 million liters.
C. The author of this article is Ehud Zion Waldoks, a male and most likely from Israel.
D. The article is about Israel helping Gaza and the author is most likely so we can say that there would be some bias in the article. The author is probably going to out Israel in a good light because it’s his home country and he wants to show the world that Israel is being good and helping out.
E. It would have helped to hear from a fisherman about what he sees out on the water. He could have helped explain the damage that the sewage waste is doing to the environment, and the people.
F. I think that’s its outraging that governments would let this happen for years. People drink and play in the water and eat seafood. Pollution is a big problem right now and if we want to keep our earth clean we are going to have to make some big changes. But it’s good that Israel is stepping in and helping Gaza out.

I agree with Katie. I think that pollution is a horrible thing and that the government waited too long to do anything about it.

I agree with Katie. Pollution is a terrible thing. The government should have addressed the issue sooner. The health of a human is not something to mess around with.

Soon everyone will hopefully step up to the plate, and stop polluting. But at this point everyone is out for themselves and just want to make big money. When the government sees and increase in tainted water deaths, they will change their minds.

Great job Katie. I completely agree with all of your opinions. It seems that they let this go so long becuase of money, but didn't they ever stop to think that if all of the fish died and all of the people got sick, that'd be worse than making a little less money? I think that people really need to stop all of this hurting the environment and i think it's great you found an aritcle like this that shows a great example of how all of this is affecting our world.
