I. 8 Jews Arrested for Assault on Arabs

II. Eight Jewish teenagers who are residents of Jerusalem were placed under arrest on Tuesday for stabbing and assaulting three Arabs and planning further attacks based on their hate of Arabs. This hate-attack Eve of Holocaust remembrance day. Two of the Arab victims were beaten and lightly hurt while the other victim was wounded and needed to be hospitalized. When the police were searching the eight suspects homes they found e-mails in which they were calling on Jewish residents to meet at a mall and take revenge on Arabs and expel them from the neighborhood.
III. A. This article relates to the AP World theme of Impact of interaction among and within major societies. The article relates to this theme because the Jews and Arabs were interacting with each other and it resulted in two Arabs lightly injured and one Arab wounded and hospitalized. Most of the times that Jews and Arabs interact with each other it results in violence.
B. There is a lot of historical background to this article. The Arab-Israeli conflict has been lasting for about one century. There has been political tensions and open hostilities. In the conflicts early years, it involves the establishment and independence of several Arab countries following World War I.
C. The writer of this article is a male, and from Israel. He is most likely an outsider on the situation because he does not include any historical background, and this is a topic with a lot of historical background to it. If he was an insider the side he is on would have been more clear while reading the article.
D. There is not much indication of the authors point of view but he does seem to point out all of the Jews flaws and none of the Arabs flaws so it could be said that he is an Arab and on there side.
E. It would be helpful to have input from one of the Jewish suspects because they might have a side to the story that was not reported in the article, and it would be helpful to hear why they did it or if they thought the Arabs brought this attack on to themselves.
F. I think that for two societies to be fighting like this is stupid because in a world as modern as today you would think that conflicts could be resolved easily and people would not judge others on there religions and think that every Arab is an enemy or every Jew is an enemy. People should learn to think for themselves and not go along with a conflict that has been going on for as many as 100 years.
