Myanmar, a country in the Asian Pacific, was hit with a huge cyclone last week which flooded the entire country. The United Nations was told to send in relief supplies or else the death toll could rise to 100,000 people. The government put a tally on the number of casualties, 22,500 people, and about forty percent of those people are kids. About 1 million people were left homeless and still 41,000 people are missing. Many people were swept out to sea while they were sleeping, and it was just a total disaster. The Myanmar government does not want much aid mainly because they think it might bring change to their country, which they don’t want. Many people do not believe it would change that much if countries invaded the towns of this country right now. The Myanmar government told the United Nations that it would dedicate seven helicopters and 80 ships to relief operations, where they would hand out high energy biscuits to the homeless. The UN hopes to take action in the next week or else there are going to be many unhappy people.

A. This article has to do with the AP World theme of, Impact of interaction among and within major societies. This is because many countries are trying to help Myanmar recover from the terrible cyclone. Many countries are interacting with each other at the UN to discuss what needs to be done for the towns of Myanmar.
B. There is not much historical background on this issue because it is a one time tragedy. One piece of historical evidence is the objectives of the United Nations. They are selectees’ from each country who determine what should be done in each worldwide decision.
C. This article was written from the perspective of Seth Mydans who is obviously a male who is from the United States of America. This means he is an outsider which means that his views are probably what many of the countries want to do with Myanmar.
D. This was a very factual based article besides maybe about why the government does not want much aid in the country.
E. I would want to hear from a Myanmar government member to see exactly what their plans are for the relief of this terrible cyclone. From this we would be able to tell if what we said about why they do not want much aid is true.
F. I feel that they should get some relief in there now because of all the people that could still be saved. They can also bring more food into the country to help to homeless people. Even if they have to invade the country, they should do it to save lives.

This article is a great explain of the AP World theme Dan explained. The United Nations must work quickly and efficiently if they want to help this devastated nation. Maybe relief funds could be started around schools in our country to help those who are suffering like we did with events like Hurricane Katrina or the tsunami.
