II. This article is about the situation in Darfur. Sudanese government planes bombed a Darfur school. Thirteen people died. The Darfur Peace Agreement (DPA) is trying to create peace in Darfur. Laurie Nathan from AU said that the DPA made conditions in Darfur worse than they were. The rebels in Darfur are not negotiating with any of the peacemakers. They are fighting against the DPA.

III. A) The AP world theme that relates to this article is state-building, expansion, and conflict. This relates because there are many rebel groups fighting the Sudan government. They are two groups fighting against each other.

B) Ever since fighting between the Sudan government and armed rebel groups broke out in 2003, 200,000 people have died. The UN is trying to bring aid to Darfur. The Darfur Peace Agreement has been signed as well, but so far not much has changed in Darfur.

C) This is an article from the IRIN which is the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. They are an outsider, and it is unknown what nationality this person is.

D) The author is a part of a peacemaking organization. They would obviously be in favor of the people to stop fighting. They make statements about the attacks. The author explains that these attacks are causing human suffering. It is clear that they are not in favor of the Sudan government. Because the Sudan government would be all for these attacks, and would probably be proud of the damage they have caused. This author gives the reader a sense that all of this is terrible, and needs to be stopped.

E) It would be helpful to hear from a person from Darfur that was directly affected by these attacks. They might have a true understanding of what is going on which may influence the reader more.

F) I think that the situation taking place is terrible. I feel badly for these people. They do not deserve such treatment. I think that it is very sad. No one should fear life because of their environment.
