II. Summary Basically, this article is about Medvedev being the next president of Russia after the old president Putin. He pledged to continue the polices that were pursued by Putin. Medvedev said his most important tasks would be "the development of civil and economic freedom." But many people saw this as one of the most marked signs of getting away from democracy. To reassure people, he pledged to help make life "comfortable, confident and secure" for Russians and to modernize industry and agriculture, encourage the development of new technologies and attract investment. Putin tells the the crowd of Russian dignitaries that he did not violate his promise of serving the country and his people faithfully and honestly.

II. Reaction
A) This article relates to the world theme State-building, expansion and conflict because with a new president, the country can change. The country could become better and achieve more with a new leader, or the economy can decrease and the people could become happy.
B) Medvedev worked as a legal expert for the International Relations Committee which was led by Vladimir Putin. So these two have known each other for awhile.
C) The point of view of the article is the associated press of jpost. Judging that they are writing for a jewish paper, you can assume they are jewish.
D) The author can hint that they are either glad that Medvedev is now president or that they aren’t. It is kinda hard to tell.
E) A point of view that is missing in the article is a russian citizen because it would be good to know what they thought of their old president and now their current president. That would help understand to see if Putin was a good leader and if they think that Medvedev will do a good job.
F) I think it’s a good idea that a new leader could step forward. It would be easier to say that though if I knew how well Putin did because then maybe it wouldn’t be a good idea if he left the office. I just hope either way Russia still thrives and the people are happy.

I think that it is good to switch up the russian government, but they should have a democratic government instead of communism, for the good of the russian people.
