II. Summary
This article is about how one of Osama bin Laden's 19 sons, Omar Osama bin Laden, was denied acceptance to live in Britain with his wife, a british native, Zaina Alsabah. This outraged the couple and they did not understand as to why they were rejected. A British consular officer was quoted saying, "nterviews indicate evidence of continuing loyalty to your father who is ultimately held responsible for the London bombing," and then continued to say,"Your presence in the UK could, therefore, cause considerable public concern." British officials believe Osama is being the London bombings that killed 52 people on July 7, 2005. Omar says nothing of his father but says he is not responsible for violence and is an "ambassador of peace" for the Muslims and the west. He and his wife are planning a 3,000 mile horse race across north Africa to show their want of peace. Omar and his wife plan to appeal the decision of rejection and hopefully will be accepted to live in Britain.
III. Reactions
A)This article relates to the AP world theme of impact of interaction among and within societies because of the London bombings believed to be because of Osama bin Laden which now causes tension between them. This is why Britain officials deny Omar admission to live here.
B)The historical background on this issue goes back to July 27, 2005 the day the London bombings occurred which were believed to be on the hand of Osama bin Laden and his terrorist group Al Qaeda. Since then and September 11, 2001 people are very cautious to be associated with them.
C)The point of view of the article is the associated press at the offices of CNN which an American news organization.
D)Point of view is significant because the article may try to make bin Laden look like he is a bad person because he is the son of Osama bin Laden who killed thousands of American people on September 11, 2001. There are definitely still harsh feelings from that day so the article may be swayed to support the British officials.
E)The point of view missing from the article is of the wife Zaina Albasah because since she is a resident already she should be able to move to a new home in her native country with her husband. The article does not show how she feels which is important because she is a citizen and has say in the issue. It would help me understand the situation better so I know that they are genuinely being fairly treated and not discriminated against.
F)I chose this article because it is very controversial in that British officials denied Omar residency because his father is Osama bin Laden. I think that yes it is questionable of Omar's actions because he is the son of Osama and if he has had contact with his father, but his record is what should be looked at.

I agree with your point of veiw because the actions of the father should not ruin his sons life, but there is a degree of caution that needs to be taken because this could just be a polt to plant more bombs in London. This could also be beneficial because if Osama tries to contact his son the British government could try to find out where Osama is and finally catch him.
I agree. I think it is horrible for people to see his horrible father in his son. I think he should at least be given a chance but watch with caution because, ITS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY! ... :)
