II. Summary
The article is about how food prices are becoming more and more of a problem for the world. Approximately 900 million people are not recieving enough food needed to survive. Scientists are working to improve the state of the world's agriculture by figuring out how to fix problems such as infertile soil and loss of biodiversity in areas. The growing poplulation of the world as well as droughts, climate changes, and economic changes are causing the price of food to skyrocket and become less available to the needy.

III. Reactions
-This article relates to the AP World History Theme "impact of technology, economics, and demography on people and the environment." It relates to this theme because food prices are taking a toll on the lives of people.
-The historical background of the issue is mainly the fact that food prices and starving people have always been a problem throughout the world.
-There is no evident point of view of this article.
-The author of the article's point of view is not really affecting the way the article is written because the author has no point of view.
-A point of view that is missing from the article is that of a person that is affected by the food shortages. The article would be more real if an affected person was included because the article is mostly stating facts and not really talking about the affect it has on the people.
-I think that this article is about a very important issue not only because it affects the world, but because it affects the people. There are so many starving people in the world and I think this article points out how scientists are trying to figure out a way to fix the situation and that's good.

I agree with Steph about the expensive food problems in the world. Food is getting very expensive and it is causing a decrease in population and a change in the climate. I think it is good that scientists are trying to fix this problem and once they do, the economy will go back up to where it was and food will be purchased and sold more.

I agree as well, if people do not start to change their actions on things the worlds econmy will become to expensive for anyone to handle.

I agree with Stephanie that food is getting to expensive and is causing a problem in the world. I think it is great idea that the scientist are trying to help fix the problem. The problem should be solved by lowering prices so everyone can have a chancce to buy food to feed themselves and family.
