II. Recentley, Burma has been hit with a massive Tsunami wiping out a large amount of people. A deadly cyclone showed up on their shore yesterday, May 6th, and killed at least 22,000 people. This is claimed to be the worst natural disaster in south-east Asia since 2004. Since May 3rd, there have been 41,000 noted deaths, and more are expected to come. This storm has rendered approximately 1 million people homeless. While plenty of help is being offered, Burmas government is only accepting a small portion of it. So far, the United States has offered about 250,000 and Navy assets. The U.N. is doing their share, as well as Singapore. This was mainly caused by a earthquake in Indonesia with a magnitude of 9.1, and traveled through the Indian Ocean to the Bay of Bengal, which is Burmas coast. After this storm, Burma is expected to hold an election for office by 2010, because they have been ruled by the military since 1962, and realize it's time for a change.

III.
A) This relates to the AP History Theme: working within a society, because not only are others helping Burma, but they are working to help themselves without the help of other countries and needs to recover.
B) Because of their poor location off the Bay of Bengal, Burma is often hit with Tsunamis, Monsoons, and earthquakes.
C) An Irish male, who is reporting from Bangkok. He has some strong views towards the salvation of Burma and wants everyone to do what they can.
D) There is no evidence of bias in the article, and no need at that, because this is not a matter of taking sides, but a matter of helping a country in desperate need.
E) I would have liked to hear from a Burman resident who's had to go through the torture and the terror of this Tsunami and the mass destruction it has caused.
F) I truly feel terribly for this country and understand the hardships of living in an area where events like this occur almost every year. It is nice to hear that so many countries have relief teams and are offering money to this country and doing everything they can to help Burma. It's also good that Burma is also taking charge and can help themselves.
