II. Summary: This article talks about the South African attacks on foreigners reaching Durban. The fights stared around a week ago and they mobs just keep growing. The police had to use rubber bullets to scare off mobs. At least 23 have bin killed and ministers say that they might need backup; the army. Some believe that it is due to politicians and Zulu nationalist Inkatha Freedom Party members of are behind it.

III. Reactions:A) These attacks are a result of Impact of interaction among and within major societies. The reason for it being this one topic is because it is a result of the foreigners migrating from different areas of Africa to South Africa where they are being attacked by xenophobes. Sometimes interaction can cause cultural diffusion but in this case, it is killing a number of people.
B) This fight started weeks ago, but it is not the only genocidal, violent attacks going on in Africa. Darfur is one example of another African killer. “There are believed to be between three and five million foreigners living in South Africa, most of them Zimbabweans fleeing poverty and violence at home.” A study taken shows that about 30,000 foreigners have bin dispersed around Johannesburg, Africa.
C) The point of view of the author is most likely one of an outsider. There is no knowledge of a name to identify him or her. D) Some reasons which might affect the article and the way it is reported are because of the people interviewed. “KwaZulu-Natal's Community Safety Minister Bheki Cele said the violence in Durban was political.” This quote shows how two sides come into play- the residents and the politicians. The political section of this article shows how the author might support the issue that politicians are in on it because why else would they explain the other opinion. E) Point of view missing from the article is one of an official. Obviously they would say how they do not take a part and maybe they even have a plan to resolve the issue. But their opinion would show their side of the story and how it is blamed on the Xenophobes fearing foreigners.F) My opinion is this should be halted as soon as possible. Whether it takes an army or not it must be stopped. There is already enough chaos in Africa and this just adds to it. No wonder they are seen as a 3rd world country.

I agree with Tom because this is such an immature thing thats happening. The police shouldn't of had to go as far as using rubber bullets just to scare them. This should be stopped as soon as possible.

I would also like to hear the voice of a foreigner livng in South Africa in Tom's article because I would like to see how horrible the attacks are based on tje point of view of one of the terrorized foreigners. I think that this situation is terrible, especially if the foriegners migrate to South Africa because it is safer than their own country.

They definitely need to get the army in there if the local police cant handle the situation. The attacks must be pretty serious if the army needs to come in and stop it.
