II.

A train station in Sri Lanka was bombed during rush hour on a commuter train. Eight were killed and about 67 were injured. A rebel organization that has been attacking public transportation, the Tamil Tiger, has been blamed for this attack, although they have not claimed responsibility. The organization had previously bombed a bus full of commuters. The Tamil Tiger began a civil war fighting for independence for the minority of the island. These attacks have caused somewhat of a civil war in northern Sri Lanka.

III.

A. This article relates to Impact of interaction among and within major societies because Sri Lanka is having a conflict within itself between rebel separatists and the Sri Lankan Military.

B. These attacks are due to a civil war where an organization called the Tamil Tiger are fighting for the minority of the northern and eastern parts of the island. They send their message by bombing bus, and trains carrying commuters.

C. The writer is most likely of English citizenship because the article was printed in England. The writer is probably an outsider with sources in the area of the explosion.

D. The writer seems to sympathy with the victims of the bombing by saying how badly people were hurt, but not saying anything about a separatist’s point of view.

E. To gain a full understanding of the article it would be helpful to hear from a Tamil Tiger separatist to understand why they are doing this and what they plan to get out of it.

F. I feel that all these issues could resolve without the use of bombs and a civil war. The Tamil Tiger is being too ruthless and each time the bomb something it makes the government want to fight and take action rather then negotiate for independence with them.
