II. The articlethat I chose talks about the recent air strike that happened upon Somalia in eastern Africa. This air strike was confirmed by the US military, to be done by themselves. The United States Army was looking for an al-Qaeda leader, (who's name would not be exposed) somewhere in the region. They proceed to bomb the house of Somalia's Aden Hashi Ayro, the military head of al-Shabab. This bombing killed somewhere around 10 people, and injured over 30. Another important figure who died in this bombing was yet another Somali leader. The United States government continues to keep quite about the whole thing. still not even revealing who the real target was. The only thing they have said so far is that they did preform the attack, and that they will not release any other information. Many people are starting to believe that the military leader was the main target, but there may have been others.
III. A. The AP Theme seen in this artical is Interaction of societies because they military leader had some links to the al-Qadea and of course the United States was largely interacting with them, because they bomb them.
B. The country of Somalia is a war torn country filled by a civil war. The US attacking this area did not help much either.
C. The website does not list an author, but the article is taken from BB which is a British based company. So it is assumed that the writer is of British background.
D. I don't really see how the author could have any bias towards either side. If she/he is actually British, he would not really have any reason to be bias towards America or Somalia.
E. Both sides gave a quote to the newsgroup, but something that I think was missing would be someone more from the US. The only thing that they say is to confirm the fact that there was an airstrike. We all obviously already know that, but what we want to know is what the government was really aiming at.
F. I was very surprised after reading this, mainly because I could never see the US doing something like that. Going into a country and taking the man under arrest make much more sense to me, other then just bombing his house and hoping to hit him. Obviously doing such a thing can only lead to more death and destruction then originally planned. Lets say for example, they did not kill this man, but killed other people. The bombing would only have killed innocent bystander not meaning to harm anyone. This is not the first time they tried to bomb this man, and I'm sure more lives where lost then was need to.
