Rosenthal, Elisabeth. "New biofuel crops could become invasive" Sanfransico Chronicle 21 May 2008. 22 May 2008

In this article, biologists and botanists warn energy companies and politicians around the world about their new biofuel program. Under the biofuel program, weeds and other non-edible plants would be grown to produce fuel without distroying food. Biologists and Botanists warn that these new plants will be invasive to the enviroment and would hurt the economy in the long run. They want to look at the risks before starting this project.
A possible theme for this article would be the impact of technology, economics, and demography on people and the environment because this new technology of turning crops into fuel could potentially destroy the enviroment. This new project may cause harm not only to the enviroment, but also to the economy, even though it is supposed to help the enviroment and strengthen the economy.
The author of this article is a female reporter who writes for an amreican newspaper. She is a trained physician and has a degree in biostatistics.
Even though she has knoledge of biology, I thinks she is pretty fair in the article, using the point of view from both sides of the argument. She has views from several leaders of Natre Conservancy gougs as well as as the Europabio industry leader, who thinks it is safe so long they are careful introducing the crops.
I would like to hear from a Geologist to see what effects we will have on the enviroment of we keep on using fossil fuels and do not convert to this new plan in which we use non-renewable resources.
I think it is a good idea to use this alternate fuel, so long we are careful. On the contrary, I think that switching to this program would have no effect on increasing th food supply because even though the fuel source ethonol, which we are using currently, comes from corn, the new biofuel plan will use farmland that had previously grown the corn on it. Therefore, unless these new weeds are more efficient, it would not be a step closer to solving world hunger.

Good article, I really wish that there wasnt a down side to their efforts in making their bio-fuel programs work. It would be perfect if there weren't any downsides to the plan but that of course would be perfect. it is nice to see that there is some real interest in the bio-fuel technolgy, it needs to be researched and perfected.

This is a great idea if it could really happen. Fuel has been a hot topic as gas prices rise and fossil fuels are diminishing. If we can find a alternate source of energy like this, we could save the world.
i think that this is a good idea because people could save money and also save gas from being completely used up. I think it will be hard to perfect but it isnt impossible.
