Name of article: Palestinians agree Israel truce

2. Summary: This article talks about how 12 Palestinian factions and Israel have come to an agreement to create a truce to end the terrorist attacks and the gun smuggling. The talks were held in Cairo, the Egyptian capital. Two of the groups did not attend the talks (the Hamas and the Fatah). Israel also denied this truce when it was proposed by the Hamas because they thought it was a ploy to gain time to prepare for more fighting. The truce might include a six- month ceasefire, the exchange of prisoners, and the opening of Gaza’s border crossing.

3. Reactions:
A) This article supports the AP World history theme impact of interaction among and within major societies because the Israeli government and the 12 Palestinian factions have come together to solve their differences by these peace talks.

B) The history behind this issue is the fact that there have been many threats and violent acts that the factions within Gaza have committed towards Israel which is why these peace talks are occurring in the first place. There have been instances where people in Gaza have sent hostile fire into Israel.

C) The point of view of this article is probably from a British reporter and in this instance the gender of this reporter is not relevant nor is the name of the author given.
D) The author’s point of view is not skewed in that the author is an outsider to this situation and therefore does not show any bias towards one side.
E) To get a full understanding of this article I would like to hear from the people of these two countries because only if the people agree with this peace treaty it will be honored but if the people disagree with it then it might not be upheld.
F) I think that it is good that these two countries can put aside their differences and come to peace. I hope that this treaty will be created to the likes and needs of both countries and that there will be a lasting peace between these two countries resulting in less tension in the Middle East which will hopefully result in more peace treaties. I hope that more countries can follow in the footsteps of Israel and Gaza.
